HOW TO GET TO CALATAGAN FROM MANILA

You can easily get to Calatagan either by driving your own car or by taking the public transportation. The municipality is just three to four hours from Manila. If you are only doing a day tour, it is important to note that getting to the town center from the attractions may require you to contact a tricycle driver that will pick you up and bring you to the town center.

By Public Transportation

Travel Time: 3-4 hours
Fare: Around P380

  1. Go to MRT Taft Station along EDSA, this is the place to board a bus bound for Calatagan (4am-4pm). Alternatively, there are vans at Metropoint Mall’s basement parking on the other side of EDSA. The travel duration is approximately three hours. The van fare is P180.
  2. Regardless of whether you took the bus or van, tell the driver you’ll alight near Calatagan Public Market or in town.
  3. After alighting, you can hire a tricycle to take you to your accommodation. The travel duration is 20-30 minutes. The fare is P200 (up to 4 people).

Note: Take the number of the driver that took you as it is difficult to get out of the area. Arrange a pick-up the next day or after your day trip.

By Private Car

If you plan to drive to Calatagan, the best way to reach it is to take South Luzon Expressway or SLEX. The trip may take around three to four hours; it may be shorter or longer depending on the traffic in Metro Manila and Sta. Rosa, Laguna. The drive is quite scenic and photography-friendly; you’ll see trees flanking the road. What you need to look out for are the fire trees that paint the sky red with their vibrant and bright colors.

You can use Waze if you have good connectivity; this option makes it easy to reach your destination. However, if you still need directions here they are:

  1. Follow SLEX and then through Santa Rosa Exit. Alternatively, to avoid traffic building up in Sta. Rosa, follow Eton City or Greenfield City Exits instead.
  2. Follow the Sta. Rosa-Tagaytay Road until you reach Silang Junction.
  3. Once you reach the junction, turn right onto Tagaytay-Nasugbu Road and drive through Tagaytay and Alfonso.
  4. Once you reach the Batangas-Cavite boundary, turn right into Nasugbu.
  5. Reminder: You’ll know you made it to the border when you reach another junction. The road on the left will take you to Lemery, the one on the right goes to Nasugbu. The road on the right has a huge “Welcome to Nasugbu” sign, which is impossible to miss.

  6. Keep going until you reach Palico junction. Once you do, turn right. You know you’re going in the right direction once you pass Central Azucarera Don Pedro.
  7. Go straight until you reach a junction with Shakey’s in front of you or Shell to your left.
  8. Turn left; once you do, you’ll be on the Calatagan-Lian Highway and you’ll drive through Lian town. Follow the road until the town proper of Calatagan.
  9. Once in town, many of the accommodations are just 20 minutes away.
