ANILAO TRAVEL GUIDE

Anilao is a coastal barangay in Mabini, a town that separates the Balayan Bay from Batangas Bay. Yes, it’s just a barangay. Over the years, however, the name Anilao has evolved to include nearby villages for tourism purposes. Resorts market themselves as Anilao properties even when they are, technically and strictly speaking, outside the barangay’s territory.

Anilao’s proximity to and accessibility from Metro Manila makes it a popular choice for tourists, especially to those with limited time and only have a weekend to spare.

Most of its shores are rocky, making this not a popular spot for those looking for nice fine sand and wanting to beach bum. It is, after all, a diving destination. Considered as the Eden or birthplace of diving in the Philippines, Anilao has been a favorite destination for both beginner and expert-level type of divers wanting their dose of underwater challenge and adventures. There are, however, small pockets of white and beige sand beaches that are often overlooked along its coast.

There are several resorts that you can find in the area which are mostly offering snorkeling, diving, accommodations, and island hopping packages. Anilao also has its own port where you can hire passenger and private boats going to and from Tingloy. It is a municipality in the south of Batangas, comprising of islands that are typically visited as stops for most of the island-hopping tours that are usually arranged in Anilao.
