BATANGAS CHURCH: St. Francis Xavier Church (Mass Schedule + How to Get There)

The St. Francis Xavier Church may not be as old as other churches in the province, but it still reminds one of the Spanish era in this part of the Philippines. In the early 1850s, the townsfolk had a church built and dedicated it to St. Francis Xavier and the Nuestra Senora Virgen de le Escalera. This wooden church burned down. Fast forward to the 1990s, the present church replaced the old one.

  • Sunday – 6:00 AM / 7:30 AM / 9:00 AM / 5:30 PM

How to Get There

  1. Located in Nasugbu, the church is accessible by public transportation from Metro Manila. There are buses from Buendia, Cubao, and Paranaque bound for Nasugbu, Batangas.
  2. Board any of these and alight at Nasugbu’s town proper. Fare is approximately P160 and the trip may take up to four hours depending on traffic.
  3. Once in town, you can hire a tricycle to take you to the church for approximately P100 or more depending on your haggling skills.

  • After visiting the church, you can go on a day trip to Canyon Cove. The resort has good facilities for day excursions or an overnight stay.
  • Alternatively, you can travel further south to Calatagan to enjoy its beaches.
  • You can also go to Taal Volcano from Nasugbu.
  • Mt. Batulao is an option for those who love the outdoors. This mountain is also located in Nasugbu.
