The Parish Church of Immaculate Conception also called the Balayan Church is an old church that dates back to Spanish colonial times. This church is also a declared National Cultural Treasure because of its significance to the history of the province.
Batangas is a famous destination because of the many things you can do such as scuba-diving, beach-bumming, and hiking. The province is also home to many old churches that contain religious icons. One such place is the Our Lady of Caysasay Shrine.
Augustinian missionaries established the original town of Taal back in the 1570s. They also then had the town’s very first church built. Fast forward to two centuries later, Taal Volcano erupted and practically destroyed the entire town including the church. Fearing another explosion, the locals moved to their current place.
